Ask

Ask questions about a case and check each answer against the passage it came from.

Asking a question

  1. Open the case and go to Ask, or type into Ask about this case on the Overview.
  2. Choose a mode:
    • Record: only what the file says, with a citation for every statement. Use it for facts, dates and who said what.
    • Analysis: reasoning over cited facts, for example "What are the weaknesses in our liability case?" Conclusions are labeled as analysis. It doesn't give valuations or predictions.
  3. Type your question and click Ask Question.

Broad questions and Analysis answers take a little longer. The screen shows progress while it works.

Checking the sources

Each answer has numbered Sources. Click one and the passage it drew on appears beside the answer (below it on a narrow screen). Use the arrows to step through the sources, and Open full document to read the passage in context.

Copy answer copies the answer text.

Earlier questions

Every question is saved with its answer. Click Previous questions at the top of Ask, or pick one from Recent questions on the Overview, to see it again with its sources.

Tips

  • Ask one thing at a time.
  • Use names, dates and events to narrow the question: "What did Officer Diaz say about the traffic light?"
  • If the answer is thin, the file may not cover it. Check the Documents list for what's missing.

Checking answers

Case Insight360 answers only from the documents in your case: no outside data or general knowledge.

AI can still misread a passage or miss something, so every answer is built to be checked:

  • Citations are checked. In Ask, citations can only point to passages retrieved from your case file; anything else is dropped. In reports, each quote is located in your documents and its link corrected, or flagged if it can't be found.
  • Quotes are verified. In reports such as Case intelligence, Deposition prep and the proof matrix, quoted excerpts are matched word for word against your documents, and anything that can't be found is flagged.
  • It says when it doesn't know. If your file doesn't answer the question, it is built to tell you rather than guess.

Before relying on an answer in a filing, deposition or advice to a client, open the cited passage and confirm it says what the answer says.
